"Path in the Treetops" is a unique tourist attraction located in the Czech town of Janské Lázně, perfectly adapted to the needs of people with disabilities using a wheelchair. Established in 2017, the observation tower quickly gained popularity among tourists worldwide, offering breathtaking views and educational stops dedicated to the nature of the Krkonoše Mountains.

Access and Parking at the Observation Tower

The access to the observation tower is convenient, and the parking is paid and located close to this tourist attraction. However, it is worth noting the parking surface condition – on wet days, it may pose a challenge for wheelchair users, as it is unpaved.
Before entering the Path in the Treetops, it's worth trying local Czech culinary specialties. Nearby restaurants offer traditional dishes such as dumplings and fried cheese, a great way to start the adventure and connect with Czech culture before sightseeing.

Entrance to the Path in the Treetops

Tickets can be purchased only in Czech crowns, and caregivers of people with disabilities can enter for free. The path to the observation tower leads along a comfortable, wheelchair-accessible walkway, approximately 300 meters long, gradually rising up to 24 meters. Along the route, there are educational stops describing the uniqueness of local nature, and all descriptions are accessible to people with limited mobility. Tree descriptions are in Czech, but many names and other words are easy to understand.

Observation Tower and Accessibility for People with Disabilities

Upon reaching the observation tower, we began our tour in the underground section, but quickly left due to the penetrating cold and high humidity. We then slowly walked up, encountering Czech visitors with disabilities along the way. As we progressed, we were increasingly captivated by the beautiful views spanning across the Czech Republic. At the very top, standing at a height of 45 meters above the treetops, the panorama of our southern neighbor unfolded in its full glory, leaving us in awe. Thanks to the excellent accessibility of the observation tower for people with disabilities, everyone can enjoy this unique landscape.

Recommendations for Tourists, Including Those with Disabilities

To fully enjoy the beauty of the Path in the Treetops, it is recommended to plan the visit during good weather, avoiding strong winds and rain. Under favorable conditions, the panorama and treetop walks become more charming and easier to navigate for wheelchair users. We were fortunate to have good weather and to experience all the highlights of this amazing place. Kudos to the Czechs for the idea and execution of this impressive tourist attraction.

Is It Worth Visiting the Czech Observation Tower in a Wheelchair?

The walk in the treetops and ascent to the observation tower was an unforgettable experience for me, and I recommend it to anyone who loves mountains and beautiful landscapes. Thanks to the comprehensive accessibility of this tourist attraction, I could admire the stunning views and natural beauty equally with others, without feeling restricted by my wheelchair. Although prices in the Czech Republic may be higher than in Poland, it is worth investing in this trip. This journey is a perfect example that tourism for people with disabilities can be full of experiences, inspiration, and beautiful views.
