ZOO - Dinosaur Park

Lubin (Poland)

Impressive figure in ZOO

The Lubin Zoo is located in the central part of the city, within the grounds of the Wrocław Park, which had been neglected for many years. Lubin ZOO is often called Dinosaur Park, but the extinct reptiles are only part of this fascinating place. Spread over 14 hectares, it offers several themed trails and the educational-tourist Fauna of Poland path.

How to get to Lubin ZOO?

If you're a visiting person with a disability using a wheelchair, it's best to park your car at the nearby BIG shopping center. There are plenty of blue parking spaces, so finding a suitable spot should not be a problem, even during the busiest shopping days. From the parking lot, which is on a slight hill, it's only a few dozen meters to the main entrance of the zoo.

How much does entry to Lubin ZOO cost?

Entry to the zoo is free. You can visit from morning until evening throughout the year. All park paths are well-maintained and very friendly to people with various disabilities. However, if you want to get a close-up look at birds in aviaries, for example, you'll need to move your wheelchair onto compacted ground, which can be tricky due to frequent slopes and after rain.

What is worth seeing at Lubin ZOO?

Mammoth and saber-toothed tiger

In my opinion, the biggest attraction of the zoo in the copper basin capital is the Dinosaur Park, or the Extinct Animal Trail. I've never had the chance to see animals from ancient geological eras in life-sized form. The tallest figure stands 12 meters high and is truly impressive.
Besides birds and farm animals, bison have recently been added. Unfortunately, when I visited, only a small bison calf was in the enclosure.

Dining at Lubin ZOO

I visited the zoo in the summer, and there were several ice cream stands on site. There is also an air-conditioned dining area within the zoo, where in addition to ice cream, you can get fries, toast, or casseroles. If you're looking for a more substantial meal, a wide variety of restaurants can be found at the nearby Cuprum Arena.

Summary

The Lubin Zoo is a great place to relax among fauna and flora. Not many cities in Poland can boast such an interesting, free, and well-thought-out attraction. A major advantage for people with disabilities is the reasonable adaptation of the park to their needs. During my walk, I saw several people using wheelchairs, so the investment in accessibility for people with mobility challenges has certainly paid off.
A trip to Lubin ZOO can easily be combined with shopping at the many stores in the area surrounding the zoo.
