MotoClassic at Topacz Castle
What is MotoClassic
MotoClassic is an annual automotive event that attracts car enthusiasts from all over Poland and beyond. The event takes place at the picturesque Topacz Castle in Ślęza, near Wrocław, where classic and vintage vehicles are displayed. I had the opportunity to participate in this unique event thanks to an invitation from a friend who recently moved to the area. The entire event is accessible for people with disabilities who use wheelchairs, and caregivers of disabled individuals can enter free of charge.
Beginning of the tour – vintage cars along the cobbled road
After a short wait in line and buying a ticket, we started along the cobbled path leading to the first section of the exhibition, where vintage cars were on display. Right at the beginning of the exhibit, I was captivated by vehicles such as decades-old Rolls-Royces, remarkable for both their age and excellent technical condition. One of the five oldest cars in Poland, documented to be from 1911, was also spectacularly showcased, along with a meticulously restored pre-war fire truck. A major advantage is that, even in a wheelchair, you have free access to all the vehicles.
Interwar-period cars and vintage tracked motorcycle
In the next sector, we could admire cars from the interwar period, featuring classic Fords and vehicles from other brands of that era. A real treat for military enthusiasts was a tracked motorcycle, used by the Wehrmacht, which made a huge impression on me. The whole exhibit was well-designed and accessible to visitors, although it's worth noting that the area is quite expansive, so people using wheelchairs with limited mobility may need assistance on certain sections of the route.
American classics and museum exhibition
As we moved further, we came to the section with American "road cruisers," dominated by post-war Cadillac and Lincoln models. The next stop was the Motor Museum, which, however, required going up a rather high step that could pose a challenge for those in wheelchairs. Inside were exhibits from the PRL era, including Polish automotive marvel Mikrus, mopeds, and authentic camping gear from that period. It was a joy to see a complete soda machine, long forgotten, along with gems like Czajka, a Soviet car intended for the highest-ranking party and state officials, as well as a militia motorcycle and patrol car. Visiting the museum is a true time-travel experience, especially for those who remember those days.
Motorcycle clearing and modern Porsche models
After exiting the museum and passing by the oldest tractor in Poland, originally manufactured without tires, we visited the clearing, where dozens of BMW motorcycles from various production decades were gathered. We then proceeded to the booth with the latest Porsche models, which impressed not only with their modern design and meticulous detail but also with their price – some models were around a million złoty. These modern models offered a sharp contrast to the vintage vehicles, adding a dynamic aspect to the event.
The next stages of the tour involved exploring the latest offers from manufacturers such as Jaguar, Lexus, Mercedes, Ford, Bentley, and several others.
Carriage parade and military exhibits – unique MotoClassic attractions
One of the most fascinating aspects of MotoClassic was the carriage parade, with some of the carriages over 150 years old. Vehicle owners were dressed in period clothing, adding a unique atmosphere to the event. For history fans, there was also an exhibit of military artifacts from World War II. Along the way, you could encounter such automotive treasures as a Ferrari, an American school bus, a steam roller, and a 1920 Bugatti valued at 3 million euros (it was the most expensive car of the event).
MotoClassic – an ideal event for everyone
MotoClassic is an event I would recommend to everyone, regardless of interest. I am deeply impressed with the organization, scope, and number of vehicles on display. People with disabilities using wheelchairs can expect decent accessibility in many areas, though it's worth noting that some parts of the route may require minor assistance. With over 250 vehicles from different eras, everyone can find something of interest – from classic car enthusiasts to fans of modern vehicles. MotoClassic is a fantastic opportunity to spend the day surrounded by friends and automotive history. I believe everyone will find something intriguing here, making it worth visiting no matter the distance.
